Presentations
Thank you to everyone who came along to the end of season presentation dinner which was a truly great night with great food and great company enjoyed it a lot.
Can I just say to everyone involved in producing a Sunday roast on a Monday don't know how you did that but it was extremely pleasant thank you Cyril, Dave and Lorna
Can I also say a big thanks to Rose and Tracey for the puds of which got demolished by us all.
A thank you to Clive for looking after the bar so well as he has done all year and a final thank you to Tony and Pam for setting everything up for us perfect as always.
Right who were the winners on the night firstly Captain Squirrel and his new darts shirt and a picture taken before the invasion of food down the front.
Three trophies were given out on the night, the first was for the highest get out of the season this went to Gary with a brilliant 112 well done. The Captains shield is give to someone who did something a little bit special and probably, something we may not have expected this went to Vicky our sausage Queen well done.
The final award went to the team Numpty and I have no words to describe my feelings on that thank you all.
If you’re still awake and I'm struggling now as you may have spotted my little blip I will finish by saying I have enjoyed the season and your company, just been brilliant.

78 Squadron 6-3 Fareham BC
Well this is the last match report of the season.
Ok settle down it's just the last match report NOT the last you will hear from me.
We played away to the gentlemen from the 78 Squadron who brought just the 6, but very strong players out to play.
A very tough night for us all but boy did we respond well. I'm not going into a lot of detail but just to say we lost 6-3 with a great all round team performance. D&D what is going on chaps? 2 wins on the trot just brilliant lads.
I would like to say to all the team we have had an outstanding season this year and I have had a great time playing darts with you all and I thank you for that.
Just to finish I'm sure you will all join me by giving a very big thank you to Cyril, Dave, Lorna and Clive for feeding us, watering us and generally looking after us and most importantly looking after our visitors so well they keep wanting to come back to play us Biggest thanks ever guys.

Fareham BC 4-5 Golden Lion (A).
Our visitors were the Golden Lion (A), a very pleasant bunch who only turned up with 6 players as the rest of the team as like a few of ours were of to watch Portsmouth play football and we feel for you..
I never really struggled to write this rubbish on a Tuesday morning but today I do. I think the only way to describe yesterday is to use that old and boring phase, that being, you should always expect the unexpected so let me try to explain.
We start all matches with a pairs game and we have 2 ladies that always play together and I've now lost count of how many times they have come out on the wrong side of a 2-1 game. Once again great darts girls and I don't quite know how you didn't win it will happen I'm sure.
I will come back to the single games. But how do you put in to words the 3rd pairs game, 2 player who work so hard, week after week with absolutely no luck, but boy did it come together for them, a brilliant 2-0 win well done D&D.
The 3rd pairs game not going to well with a 2-0 loss bad luck boys.
Finally we play 6 single games with 3 very good wins and 3 let's just say, could have done better, losses. I know they will not be upset with me saying that.
Anyway at one stage we were 4-3 up and we usually finish strong, but not today we lose both 8th & 9th legs to lose the match 5-4 for an unbelievable 6th time this season.
Monday 23rd is our last league game of the season and we are away to the gentlemen of the 78th Squadron at Hill Park SC .
Enough now, is it too early for a glass of wine? it must be 12-00 o'clock some where in the world 🍷

Friendly - Fareham BC 4-5 Sovereign (A)
Our visitors were Sovereign (A) who came with a very strong 7 the match was played with a tremendous amount of spirit and a few cans of beer as well.
A very big thanks to captain squirrel 🐿️ for a totally brilliant Spag bowl which stopped the match to be eaten (for a bit of inside information proper hot dogs and chips next week now that should keep someone happy).
Now as for the match, Fareham getting off to the worse start possible, going 4-0 down, all good games but not going our way.
Well you may have heard this phrase before but it was a match of 2 halves with Fareham winning 4 out of 5 of the following legs.
So final score being 5-4 to Sovereign (A) and I've now lost count of how many times we had that result this season.
Another great team performance and a very enjoyable night against a great bunch of lads well done team.
I'm off to try this bowls lark again, not sure if it will take of but I'm trying my best, think I need someone to give me some lessons.

Friendly - Sovereign (B) 4-5 Fareham BC
Good morning team, if you are looking for a short report well that's not going to happen now is it.
Away at Sovereign social club playing the (B) team who made us very welcome as always, but I think they thought we were bringing the rest of the bowls club with us with the amount of food they got from the local fish and chips shop, if you went home hungry, big mistake.
I just would like to say we may have gone over to play with a few guns missing, but have to say the will to win and the heart put into the team was second to none.
Thank you and well done all, just brilliant.
I'm now going to pass on a message from their captain, Jimmy, who wanted to pass on his thanks to the team and that they had really enjoyed our company this season, and was looking forward to seeing us next winter season. I let him know that Clive will be getting more help in the bar for when they visit next time.
Right, how did it all go, we lost the first 2 games 2-1 on both counts, not sure how, both great performances and should have gone our way but that's darts.
Anyway a win for the next 3 games. The quality of darts that can only be explained as “very tidy”, well done you two, so keep up we are now winning 3-2.
This was followed by 2 great performances but with Fareham coming out on the wrong side in both games. Score now being 4-3 down with 2 games to play.
So what to do next, I know what, let's send in the Bard to send them to sleep, and when we all woke up he had won 2-1 well done Mr S.
Oh flipping eck the score is now 4-4 and one game to play, been there before haven't we. Well maybe not the best last game but we win it 2-0 and guess what, we have won 5-4, bloody brilliant team, the 4th win of the season, but more than that, back to back wins and that has certainly not happened before.

Fareham BC 6-3 Golden Lion (B)
Yes it's that time again and as my critic are asking I will try to keep it short.
At home to Golden Lion (B) not the largest team in the league as they turn up with the minimum 6 player but a friendly enough team.
Well it's not very often we go into a match as favorites so a little bit of a nervous feeling for us, but that didn't show as we got of to a very positive start going 2-0 up.
Got a little bit wobbly in the middle but with 2 legs to play we are standing 4-3 up needing 1 more for the win, and thank you H, took the pressure of me as we win the last 2 with an overall win of 6-3. Our third win of the season.
As you know I try not to mention names as it's a team game but can't hold back Billy N and ding dong Don winning there pairs game well that's not happened before, sending the club house into a mad frenzy.
Well done guys, and well done team, great performance and at last a very deserved 2 points.

Sovereign (A) 6-3 Fareham BC
Away to Sovereign (A), a very busy and loud venue but a great bunch of lads to play against.
I have to say as a team we are getting better and better. This match proved a great team performance, even losing 6-3 and as there captain said after the match that should have really been 6-3 to Fareham and he was right.
It is going to go our way very soon, maybe not this year but without a doubt next season. well done team great night and great team effort.
I know, I keep getting told to keep it short, not easy with things to say. The team we played also want to play a friendly before the end of the season. that's three now so we are going to be busy boys and girls will let you have dates asap.
Quick reminder for players to sign the team sheet before leave the venue.
Next Monday we are at home to Golden Lion (B), look forward to seeing you all then.

Cross Keys (A) 6-3 Fareham BC
Not to sure how to explain this match which was one of the strangest evening of darts I think I have had since the team started, apart from our last visit to cross keys playing their (B) team in the cup who just happened to be there playing Collingwood on the other board, still complaining, clearly still upset by getting beaten by a better and much nicer team.
Sorry went off subject for a minute. Now let me try and explain my thoughts on our match and would be interested to know what you all think. Firstly we turned up with the smallest team we have ever put out, the magnificent 7. Sickness and unavailability hitting the team badly.
The team we played ❌🗝️ (A), were very welcoming and played the match in the spirit we all enjoy.
So let me just set the situation, they have put a lot of effort in to making things much better to play darts in, no bucket catching the drips from the roof and much better lighting, no torches required BUT they have invested in new technology. Now I'm always for new ideas but not sure about this one. Their investments was in a new light ring around the board, but it also has cameras in it that pick up your score, transferring it to a screen.
So no caller or marker required. You may think this sounds great, but you felt you were out there playing on your own, it felt soulless, disconcerting and a little bit odd and lonely place. Nobody seemed to know if you got a good score, so team support, felt a little weird
Anyway, must tell you how we did, got of to the worse start possible loosing the first 5 games straight, won the next 2. Lost leg 8 and won leg 9.
Overall result being a 6-3 win to ❌🗝️ (A).
Let's just say, not the best team performance of the season but a big thanks to all that made it to the match. One or two not in the best of health and as I mentioned earlier bit of a strange night.
Practice next week, look forward to seeing you all there.

Hill Park (C) 5-4 Fareham BC
Good day team hope you are all enjoying the liquid sunshine.
Well we were away to the league leaders so a tough game. Much going on at the venue with four other league games all being played at the same time, so a very busy place.
Anyway we got of to a great start going 2-0 up but we lost the next 3, so now 3-2 down. Bit of a flip flopping night but getting to the stage of 4-4 with the final game to play, pretty good stuff team.
Yep I'm afraid we lost the last leg, tough game, overall score ending 5-4 to Hill Park. Well done team great performance.
The only problem with this is it's the 4th time that this has happened and you get absolutely nothing for that. Well we hope change is on the way at the AGM on 11 February at the Duke of Connaught. Three new scoring options are up to be voted on. Something Cyril and I have been complaining about for the last couple of years so 🤞for change.
Next week's match, I need to explain, on the fixture list it show we are at home to Cross Keys, but this is not the case. We are in fact away. The reason for this is because we cancelled the away game before Christmas with bowls club commitments. So what is going to happen is we will play a double header, this means we play 1 match of 9 legs but it will be scored differently, for example if we win 5-4 where we would normally get 2 points we will infact get 4 points and the score will be 10-8. Clear as mud, but the main thing to remember we are AWAY to Cross Keys.

Friendly - Fareham 2-8 Sovereign (B)
Well what a great night of entertainment we all had with the Sovereign B Team coming to visit for a friendly game of darts.
I will try my best to pick words in this report that corrected text will not change and I must apologise for the use of the word *--- and in no way does it reflect my thoughts on the club shirts.
Anyway we played an extra game to make sure we all got to play. A big thank you to everyone who turned up to play.
Overall 10 games were played of which we won 2, so final score was a win for Sovereign 8-2.
I never mention individual player as it is a team game ..... but what an extraordinary performance by the sausage queen winning her game 2-0, and a 2 dart out as well, with the teams going into a very loud offering of support.
Well done team, great night on the oche, lots of fun.
Please put this in your diary, we are going to play a friendly away to Sovereign B on Monday 2 March.
Next Monday's league game is away to Hill Park.

Fareham 4-5 Sovereign (B)
Tonight we played host to our friends from Sovereign B who reminded us all of why we joined the darts team in the first place for. A game played in the right spirit, well actually there was a few lagers and ciders involved as well.
Great night Sovereign B and I hope your destinated driver had a safe journey home.
As for the darts unlike last week we got of to bad start going 3-0 down, then a recovery back to 3-2 down. Now that's better, but I'm afraid It didn't last last we are now 5-2 down. Fareham then had a great recovery winning the last 2 game and the match finally finishing with a 5-4 win to Sovereign B.
Well done team a great night on the oche and the only thing taken a spanking was the bar. Perfect.

Fareham BC 4-5 78 Squadron
Home to the gentleman from the Navy, the 78 squadron, the team we played in the cup game just before Christmas and unfortunately losing 8-1 a match not quite showing how well we played.
Well this was a new match. With nine games to play the first of which is a pairs a game. Previously we find it difficult to win but not tonight a comfortable win 1-0 good start.
Next games are 2 singles the first of which we win well 2-0 and the next game we win well again.
Hold on wait a minute, what's going on we are 3-0 up, that's not happened before amazing start.
Unfortunately the next 3 games are not quite going our way lots of chances but not getting that bit of luck required. So after 6 games the score is now 3-3 can we hold our nerve.
Next game we lose so now 4-3 down but another great performance wins us the 8th game score is now 4-4. Come on guys keep up, so what happens now, 1 more game to play and it's the deciding game.
Well sorry to say, not to be for Fareham so final result is 5-4 to the 78 squadron.
What a great performance team we should be very proud of ourselves only goes to show just how much we have improved.
Next week game is another home game to Sovereign B, a game we have a great chance in. Good luck and well done, just brilliant.

78 Squadron 8-1 Fareham BC
Team Fareham were away in the second round of the cup to a new team to the league, with a few old faces, that being the 78 Squadron. A fine bunch of gentlemen as you would expect from our wonderful Navy.
We played at a new venue to us the Hill Park WMC which didn't look that big a place from the outside but when you got inside the place was enormous and I lost count of how many dart boards were there.
We got to play our match on the stage a fitting place for a cup match. Fareham played there socks of but came up against a team in red hot form, we had our chances but they scored well and when the got down to a double were very clinical, straight out as they said after the match they do get a lot of time to practice.
Well done team good performance but going down to a 8-1 defeat result not always showing the level of match.
The next match in the league is at home on Monday 5th January and would you believe it we are playing the 78 squadron.
All that's left for me to say team is to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a good and healthy 2026 been a pleasure.

Golden Lion (A) 6-3 Fareham BC
We were at our second visit to the Golden Lion in two weeks playing their A team, yet another new team to the league a nice bunch of lads and a team of quality who made us very welcome.
Sometime it takes a good team to bring out the best in us, overall view is that we played very well but got of to an unfortunate start loosing the first 5 games, playing, well and should certainly have won two of them.
I think we would all have been happy 3-2 down at the half way stage but not to be but in the words of the great game it was a match of 2 halves Fareham winning 3 out of 4 games comfortably in the second half.
Final result was a 6-3 win to the golden lion, well played team, good to see us back on form.
Looking forward to our cup game, away to 78 squadron at Hill Park WMC on Monday 22nd.

Golden Lion (B) 4-5 Fareham BC
Fareham BC were away to yet another new team to the league, Golden Lion B a nice bunch who made us very welcome and played darts with the same relaxed approach as ourselves.
Now as you have become aware I don't find it to difficult to find the words to put together a match report from our Monday night adventures. I always try to be as positive as I can and to be fair we have played some brilliant darts this season and not always had that little bit of luck to get us over the line.
So how do I put in to words, our performance, let say not our best night on the oche, in fact we were pretty good as a team, no I'll take that back we weren't that good but as we are learning darts is a funny old game as we won 5-4 our fist league win of the season got to say well done team for that.
Next week we are back at the same venue playing the A team good luck to all.

Fareham BC 3-6 Sovereign SC (A)
Tonight a new team to the league came to Fareham that being Sovereign (A) and a very enthusiastic friendly and supportive bunch which was great to see.
The match got of to a very even start then Fareham hit a flat spot playing well but not quite getting over the line then something very strange happened . . . . . .at 9-30 ish we have food but we normally carry on playing while eating so our resident chef had decided to do one of his special curry, wheeling it out the gorgeous aroma fill the club house nobody wanted to carry on playing until they had a bowl then another bowl YEP it was that good nice one Cyril.
Anyway back to darts Fareham continued with that flat spot but coming good in the end winning the last 2 games.
The final score finished 6-3 in favour of sovereign A well done team played well but not quite getting the rub of the oche.
No rules were broken in the course of this match if they were nobody gave a damn well played sovereign enjoyed your company looking forward to the return match.

Cross Keys (B) 3-6 Fareham BC
Great cup round result following a trip to Cross Keys. A poorly lit venue in need of a search light caused a few mistakes, leaning forward to see, toe on the oche and calling a double three instead of six. Cross Keys, we are very sorry for our mistakes but not sorry for a 6-3 win.
Well done everyone best win we have had yet. HAPPY DAYS.

Fareham BC 1-8 Hill Park (C)
We played host for the first time this season to another new team to the league that being Hill Park, who proved to be a very good side and a team obviously going places.
Fareham scored very well in every game and getting down to the double most every leg but that nasty bug of double trouble is still being a pain and I'm sure if they made the doubles on the board twice as wide we would still hit the outside wire, so unlucky team going down 8-1
Next week Monday 10th we are away to Cross Keys (B) in the first round of the cup good luck everyone.

Sovereign SC (B) 6-3 Fareham BC
Playing at a new venue and a new team to the league, it's good to see such a young team who went out of there way to make us welcome and to make sure the venue had everything it needed well done Sovereign social club.
Now as for the darts two very evenly matched teams went head to head but that very annoying bug called double trouble swept though the team, both sides in every game getting down to the double together but Sovereign getting the better overall result, but for the first game of the season Fareham bowls club played very well but losing overall by 6-3 games.
Well done team great start looking forward to playing them at home.
Next week Monday 3rd of November we are at home to another new team Hill Park.

To commence the Winter season, tonight a Fareham team with a very depleted side.
The Fareham 9 played a friendly against Rowner Bowling Club and if it wasn't for the thickness of the wire on more than one occasion in the last leg in the last game we would have come away with a very worthy draw but it was not to be and the final result was Rowner winning 6 games to 4.
